This is a full-time, 8-hour per day Skills Trainer position at Green Elementary School starting immediately. This position works 183 days in a full school year
General Job Description: Under the general supervision of the department of student services administration, serves in a supplementary role in the support, implementation, and evaluation of skills-specific services for school aged youth. Within the guidelines and direction established by the student service administration, provides education, support, direction, and modeling to assist students with treatment goals. Responsible for implementing identified evidence-based interventions and providing behavioral and social skill training for identified students. Consults with school team and family members regarding current needs and progress of identified students. Rides buses to help support student transportation needs.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree preferred
Experience: Demonstrated competence with at-risk youth and families
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrate competence in the areas of mathematics, reading, writing and speaking.
Knowledge of:
- Effective communication techniques.
- Interventions to support the behavioral, social skill and executive functioning of students.
- Learning characteristics of various handicapping conditions.
- Child and adolescent development, concepts, and theories
Ability to:
- Engage in positive and appropriate relationship-building with students, families and co-workers.
- Ensure safety, security, and confidentiality of students in the school setting.
- Communicate in developmentally appropriate and respectful manner with clients, families, and coworkers.
- Conduct oneself in a professional and respectful manner with clients, families, and coworkers; as evidenced by actions, language, and attire.
- Work effectively with a variety of providers, family members, other professionals, and children in the school setting
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
